Cheap Mamma Mia! tickets at the Novello Theatre

The Show

In the immortal words of Abba themselves: 'Mamma Mia, how can I resist you?' Good question, Swedish pop gods. But little did Benny, Bjorn et al know when they penned that deathless enquiry exactly how irresistible the stage musical featuring their music would really turn out to be.

Join the ultimate feel-good party as Mamma Mia! celebrates 15 years as the world's sunniest and most exhilarating smash-hit musical. If you've only ever seen the film, rest assured that nothing beats the experience of watching – and, more importantly, taking part in – this fabulously feel-good show.

The Story

Young Sophie is getting married on a Greek island paradise where her mother Donna runs a hotel. All she wants is for her father to walk her down the aisle – the trouble is, he could be any one of three men. With all three potential fathers – and Donna's ex-lovers – on the island, sparks fly and threaten to upstage the wedding.

Feelgood doesn’t even begin to describe it. Full to bursting with ABBA classics such as Dancing Queen, The Winner Takes It All, Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, and of course Mamma Mia!, you really shouldn’t miss this awesomely fabulous show.

Venue Info

Novello Theatre

The Novello Theatre is situated on Aldwych in the West End of London, close to Covent Garden tube station. Built in 1905, this 1015 seat venue continued to host plays despite being bombed during WWII.

The first production at the Novello Theatre was Il Maestro di Capella, an Opera by Ferdinand Paer, which opened on May 22 1905. Among the countless notable shows to have graced this venerable West End theatre’s stage since then are Sailor Beware!, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, No Sex Please We’re British, The Real Thing and Cabaret.

Today, the Novello Theatre enjoys consistent success and is internationally renowned as a great place to see plays and musicals as well as being a regular host to performances by the Royal Shakespeare Company.

The theatre has progressed through many aliases during its history, having been variously known as The Waldorf Theatre, the Whitney Theatre, and The Strand Theatre before settling on its current appellation.

Like any long-serving institution, its fortunes have varied over the years. An extensive reconstruction was carried out in 1930, with the entire theatre being redecorated and the dress circle rear boxes removed.  Despite being badly damaged in the Blitz, the theatre stayed open for business during WWII.

The theatre was renovated during the 1970s. Still known as the Strand, the theatre underwent further major refurbishment in 2005. When work was completed in December of that year, the theatre reopened as the Novello Theatre.

The layout, size and atmosphere of the Novello Theatre make it the perfect place to see musicals and contemporary and classical theatre.  Recent successes include Spring Awakening, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Tap Dogs, Onassis, Betty Blue Eyes, Crazy For You, Noises Off and Derren Brown: Svengali.

Whatever you decide to see at the Novello Theatre, we wish you an entertaining and rewarding visit.
