Cheap Grupo Corpo: Triz & Parabelo tickets at the Sadler's Wells Theatre

The Show

Brazil's internationally acclaimed dancecompany returns to Sadler's Wells for its first performance since 2011. With a history stretching back nearly 40 years, Grupo Corpo's 22 virtuosic dancers combine the precision of classical ballet with the sensuality and passion of Latin dance rhythms. Grupo Corpo translates as Group Body, reflecting the movement style of the dancers, who co-ordinate to fill the stage with unmatched energy and excitement.

The company performs two pieces, choreographed by artistic director Rodrigo Pederneiras. The first piece is entitled Triz - the Brazilian term for the moment just before a castastrophe . The abstract dance is performed  in striking black and white costume and sees performers bodies vertically split like inanimate objects. Performed for the first time in the UK, Triz is a visually stunning dance experience.

The second of these, Parabelo, was described by Pederneiras as his most Brazilian creation and is inspired by life in rural Brazil. It sees the dancers sweep across the stage moving rhythmically from group to solo and back again. There are moments of utter peace amd stillness and others of raucous Brazilian carnival.
