Cheap Blood Brothers tickets at the Phoenix Theatre

The Show

Written by modern British master Willy Russell (Educating Rita, Shirley Valentine), Blood Brothers is a captivating, moving tale of twin boys separated at birth and brought back together by fate.

Based on Alexandre Dumas' The Corsican Brothers, Blood Brothers was an instant smash when it opened in the West End in 1988 and has played there to acclaim ever since. With songs including the emotionally wrenching Tell Me It's Not True, Blood Brothers is a must-see for musical theatre fans.

The Story

Blood Brothers gained its cult status for many reasons. Its brilliant songs and believable working-class setting – all too rare in musical theatre – are just two. But perhaps the main reason that people keep coming back for repeat go-rounds of Willy Russell’s masterwork is because it positively brims over with passionate human drama: a mother’s torturous dilemma, twins separated at birth, a tangled web of love and the prophecy of a terrible fate that seems impossible to avert.

Eddie and Mickey are 7 years old when they first meet and declare themselves to be Blood Brothers. Making a pact to be best friends forever, they are completely unaware that in fact, they really are brothers by birth.

As their friendship deepens over the years and their lives diverge in drastically different directions, jealousy and resentment lead Eddie and Mickey's tangled destiny to a dramatic and haunting conclusion.

The show's songs, including The Devil’s Got Your Number and the aforementioned Tell Me It’s Not True, have become staples of the modern musical songbook, inspiring interpretations by talents as diverse as Barbara Dickson, the Nolan Sisters, Mel C and Kiki Dee.
