Venue Info

Capital FM Arena

The Nottingham Capital FM Arena is situated in the Lace Market in Nottingham, close to Nottingham rail station. Built in 2000, this 10,000 capacity venue is housed within the National Ice Centre complex, which is the major public and professional ice sports centre in the UK and home of the Nottingham Panthers ice hockey team.

Among the most notable performers and shows to have graced this giant venue’s stage during its history are Sir Elton John, Rod Stewart, Oasis, Bob Dylan, Green Day, Usher and the hugely successful touring family show Walking With Dinosaurs, to name but a few.

The venue was formerly known as the Nottingham or Trent FM arena. It became the Capital FM Arena in 2000 but it remains under the ownership of Nottingham Ice Centre Ltd.

The plans for the current building were first announced in September 1995 at an estimated cost of £13 million, to be partially funded by National Lottery funds. The finalised plans were unveiled in October 1996, by which time the British Olympic Association had got behind the proposal. The first public skating session took place in April 2000.

Today, Nottingham Capital FM Arenaenjoys consistent success and has established itself as the major centre in the East Midlands for big shows by big-name acts, not least the mega-sized revival of Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Tim Rice’s rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar in 2012.

The layout, size and atmosphere of the Nottingham Capital FM Arenamake it the perfect place to see live music and comedy shows. Recent successes include Michael McIntyre, Cheryl Cole, The X Factor Live and One Direction.

Whatever you decide to see at the Nottingham or Trent FM we wish you an entertaining and rewarding visit.
