Wyndham's Theatre is situated on Charing Cross Road in the West End of London, close to Leicester Square tube station. Built in 1899, this 970 seat venue was where Madonna made her West End debut (in Up for Grabs).

The first production at the Wyndham’s Theatre was David Garrick by T.W Robertson, which opened on November 161899. Among the countless notable shows to have graced this venerable West End theatre’s stage since then are Godspell, The Boyfriend, The Witches, Up for Grabs starring Madonna and the Vagina Monologues. 

Today, the Wyndham’s Theatre enjoys consistent success and is known for staging both revivals and new works. The theatre has presented an enormously diverse repertoire over the years, but in years recent more plays than musicals have appeared on its stage. 

Many of the best known names in British theatre have appeared at Wyndham's Theatre over the years. Among them are including Vanessa Redgrave in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Alec Guinness and Eileen Atkins in The Cocktail Party, Paul Scofield in The Tempest and John Gielgud and Ralph Richardson in Harold Pinter's No Man's Land. The cast of the rock-musical Godspell, which opened in January 1972, included two future big hitters making their West End theatre debuts:  David Essex and Jeremy Irons.

In 2008 the theatre was closed for refurbishments. Delfont-Mackintosh, current owners of the theatre, spent over £3 million on its restoration, although very few readily visible aesthetic changes were made.

The layout, size and atmosphere of the Wyndham’s Theatre make it the perfect place to see drama, comedy and small scale musicals. Recent successes include the Donmar Warehouse’s productions of Ivanov, Twelfth Night, Madame de Sade and Hamlet, as well as The History Boys, An Inspector Calls, Avenue Q, Much Ado About Nothing, The King’s Speech and Abigail’s Party.
