Cheap Jeeves and Wooster tickets at the Duke of York's Theatre

The Show

Join Robert Webb as effervescent, aristocratic fool Bertie Wooster and Mark Heap as his dutiful valet Jeeves in the world premiere of this new stage play, based on P.G. Wodehouse’s classic novel The Code Of The Woosters, and approved by the Wodehouse estate.

The Story

When a perfectly delightful trip to the countryside takes a turn for the worse, Bertie Wooster is unwittingly called on to play matchmaker – reconciling the affections of his host’s drippy daughter Madeline Bassett with his newt-fancying acquaintance Gussie Fink-Nottle.

If Bertie, ably assisted by the ever-dependable Jeeves, can’t pull off the wedding of the season, he’ll be forced to abandon his cherished bachelor status and marry the ghastly girl himself!

Venue Info

Duke of York's Theatre

image

The Duke of York's Theatre is situated on St Martin's Lane in the West End of London, close to Leicester Square tube station. Built in 1892, this 659 seat venue has often presented performances by legendary international acting talents, including Al Pacino in American Buffalo and Glenda Jackson in Rose.

The first production to be staged at the Duke of York’s Theatre was The Wedding Eve, a comical opera, which took place on September 10 1892. Among the countless notable shows to have graced this venerable West End theatre’s stage since then include the first ever production of Peter Pan, and a production of Sherlock Holmes that featured a 14 year old Charlie Chaplin in his stage debut.

Today, the Duke of York’s Theatre enjoys consistent success and is known as an intimate venue that stages both exciting new work and classic revivals.

But, like any long-serving institution, its fortunes have varied over the years. Known as the Trafalgar Square Theatre until September 1895, the Duke of York’s was damaged during WWII, forcing the venue to close between 1940-43.

London station Capital Radio purchased the building in 1979, and quickly closed it for refurbishment. It reopened in 1980 with its interior decoration completely restored, recreating its original warm atmosphere. Today, The Duke of York’s Theatre is the headquarters of the Ambassadors Theatre Group and Sonia Friedman Productions.

The layout, size and atmosphere of the Duke of York’s Theatre make it the perfect place to see intimate drama. Recent successes include Speaking in Tongues, Ghost Stories, Journey’s End, Backbeat, All New People and Posh.

Whatever you decide to see at the Duke of York’s Theatre, we wish you an entertaining and rewarding visit.
