Cheap Ghosts at Trafalgar Studios 1
Following a sold out run at the Almeida Theatre, the critically acclaimed Ghosts by Henrik Ibsen transfers to the Trafalgar Studios for a strictly limited season.
Giving a 'magnificent performance' (The Guardian), Lesley Manville leads the cast in Richard Eyre's 'spellbinding' adaptation (Independent) of Ibsen's masterpiece. This fast-paced production of Ghosts is both 'powerfully moving' (Metro) and 'compellingly vibrant' (Evening Standard).
Helene Alving has spent her life suspended in an emotional void after the death of her cruel but outwardly charming husband.
She is determined to escape the ghosts of her past by telling her son, Oswald , the truth about his father. But on his return from his life as a painter in France, Oswald reveals how he has already inherited the legacy of Alving's dissolute life.

Trafalgar Studio One Seat Plan
Choose your seats from the plan of the Trafalgar Studio One above. If you're making your first visit to a theatre or you're simply unsure about where you'd most like to be seated, here's a quick guide to help you choose:
The Stalls are level with and closest to the stage. The Dress Circle (or simply the Circle) is the level of seating above the Stalls. The Upper Circle or Grand Circle is above the Dress Circle. The Balcony, above the Upper Circle, is the highest level of seating.
Trafalgar Studio One
The Trafalgar Studios are situated in London’s Whitehall, close to Charing Cross rail and tube station. Built in 1930, the two studios—Studio 1 with 380 seats and Studio 2 with 100 seats—had originally been a single auditorium before they were converted in the early 2000s.
The Trafalgar Studios originally opened as the Whitehall Theatre on September 29 1930 with a play by Walter Hackett called The Way to Treat a Woman. The theatre later became closely identified with Brian Rix’s Whitehall Farces, which began playing there in the 1950s and continued through to the end of the 1960s.
By the end of the 1970s new owner Paul Raymond had turned the theatre, without permission, into a military museum for tourists called The Theatre Of War. Raymond got into severe trouble with Westminster Council. An inquiry followed, which has ultimately led to the preservation of the theatre, and other London theatres, since then.
Between 1997 and 1999 the theatre served as a radio and television studio. The BBC’s Live from London and Jack Docherty’s talk show were both broadcast from here during this time. It later returned to theatrical use.
In 2003 the space was converted into The Trafalgar Studios. This involved splitting the theatre into two separate auditoriums. Studio One occupies the space that was once the dress circle. It is the larger of the two spaces and opened a year prior to Studio Two.
The layout, size and atmosphere of the Trafalgar Studios One make it the perfect place to see plays and musicals in an intimate environment. Recent successes include End of the Rainbow, Ordinary Days, Being Shakespeare, Top Girls, Three Days in May and Yes, Prime Minister.
Whatever you decide to see at the Trafalgar Studio One, we wish you an entertaining and rewarding visit.
