Cheap Chicago tickets at the Garrick Theatre

The Show

Having snatched the crown of the longest running American musical from A Chorus Line, the London production of slinky, sexy Chicago left its long-standing home at the Cambridge Theatre in 2011 and continues to weave its unique spell at the Garrick.

From the unforgettable first blast of All That Jazz right through to the last note of its sizzling, swinging score, from the sensuous choreography inspired by the legendary Bob Fosse to its sensational performers, Chicago is a musical phenomenon like no other.

The Story

Kander & Ebb’s steamy show is brimful with what they like to call the old razzle-dazzle. It aims a searing searchlight at 1920s chorus girl Roxie Hart, who kills her lover in self-defence and finds herself in a bitter rivalry with double-murdering femme fatale Velma Kelly.

Even if they can survive each other, it’s up to super-slick lawyer Billy Flynn to keep his beautiful-but-deadly clients out of the electric chair.

Nothing compares to the thrill you get from getting up-close-and-personal to the sights and sounds of a West End show in full flow, and Chicago is one of London’s best and most popular. On this page you’ll find images from Chicago and get a taste of what’s in store from this tantalising production.

Chicago is a musical set in the prohibition era, when murder itself proved to be an art. The story is a satire on corruption of the justice system and centres on Roxie Hart, a married chorus girl, who is trying to make it as a singer. She kills her lover in self-defence and finds herself in a bitter rivalry with femme fatale and ultimate ‘celebrity criminal’ Velma Kelly. Their lawyer, the slick and manipulative Billy Flynn, does his best to keep his clients from death row, all the while vowing to make them stars.

Take a sneak peak at this gallery featuring the current West End production of Chicago with Sarah Soetaert as Roxie Hart, Rachel McDowall as Velma Kelly and Raza Jaffrey as Billy Flynn.

With music written by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb and book by Ebb and Bob Fosse, Chicago originally premiered in the United Kingdom in London in 1979, running for approximately 600 performances. Following a revival on Broadway, Chicago reopened in London in November 1997 at the Adelphi Theatre.

The production has been staged at a number of theatres over the years, but it now calls The Garrick Theatre its home. With over 6000 performances, Chicago is the longest running Broadway transfer in the West End. A number of well known actresses and singers have played the part of Roxie Hart over the years including America Fererra, Ashlee Simpson, Brooke Shields and Michelle Williams.

We hope these pictures give you a flavour for the show and have whetted your appetite for Chicago. Have a fantastic time when you see it at the Garrick Theatre.
