Bringing the hit movie Shrek to the London stage, Shrek the Musical breathes new life into the classic story with original song-and-dance numbers that will delight audience members of all ages.

The Story of Shrek the Musical

Those who've seen the film Shrek already know the story: grumpy and fiercely private green ogre Shrek fights to be left alone by squatting fairytale creatures at his home in the forest. To win back his freedom he must carry out a dangerous mission for the egotistical, vertically-challenged Lord Farquaad - rescue the beautiful Princess Fiona from a vicious fire-breathing dragon, with the assistance of the wise-cracking Donkey. With his goals firmly in sight, Shrek heads on his quest - only to find his emotions getting in the way and slowly uncovering a secret that threatens his plan altogether.

What's New

Get ready to roar with laughter at this new production from the director of musical comedy Avenue Q, specially adapted for British audiences. Sticking to its 'fairytale with a twist' style and wide-ranging humour that made Shrek such a success, Shrek the Musical takes it one step further. It not only gives us more backstory on our favourite characters, but catchy songs and superb costumes too making this musical a thrilling experience for the whole family.

Cast

Shrek the Musical tickets boasts an all-star cast that's won rave reviews from critics. These include Dean Chisnall as Shrek, Kimberley Walsh as Princess Fiona, Richard Blackwood as Donkey and the unmissable Neil McDermott as Lord Farquaad.

Age Recommendation

Shrek the Musical is suitable for everyone aged 5 and up, though Theatre Royal Drury Lane policy lets children over the age of 4 with their own tickets into the theatre. Children under 4 will not be admitted.

Did you know?

The inspiration for the original movie Shrek (and Shrek the Musical too) came from a cartoon by a New Yorker cartoonist called William Steig. His Shrek is noticeably scarier than the one we've come to love!
