The Olivier and Tony award-winning National Theatre production of War Horse will go on tour around the UK and Ireland next year.
The tour will begin at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth on 27 September 2013 and end at the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff on 19 July 2014. Along the way it will visit Birmingham, Salford, Edinburgh, Southampton, Dublin, Sunderland and Bradford.
Meanwhile the West End production of War Horse at the New London Theatre continues, and is currently booking until 26 October 2013.
War Horse made its London debut with a phenomenally successful run at the National Theatre in 2007. It transferred to the West End in 2009. Since then it’s played on Broadway and Toronto and on a US tour.
Further productions are set to open in Australia and Berlin at the end of this year. The play has also been adapted into a hit film directed by Steven Spielberg.
The moving play about a young soldier who is separated from his beloved horse during WWI is based on a novel by Michael Morpurgo, adapted by Nick Stafford and presented in association with Handspring Puppet Company. It’s directed by Marianne Elliot and Tom Morris and designed by Rae Smith.
